Gurudev is the founder of Dhol Collective a team of highly trained Dholplayers with a focus on Folk Rhythms.

The team is so passionate about playing Dhol that even when they are not gigging they are perfecting their art and working on new features.

As a Collective they have over 20 years of experience performing at events ranging from – Weddings, Birthdays, Festivals, TV & Radio features and much more.

Dhol Collective promote the art of Dhol and offer lessons to those that are interested in learning Folk Rhythms

 

The playshop details:

What is a Dhol?
Dhol is a drum originating from North India. It is made of a wooden barrel and has a bass and treble side which can be used to play Dhol rhythms that accompany dance.

What is the  ‘Drum’n’Fun’ workshop?
At the interactive Dhol drumming workshop, participants can have a go at playing a Dhol rhythm.
The focus is on  Folk Rhythms used in Bhangra Folk dance like Jhummar, Luddi, Dhamaal, etc. These rhythms accompany dance steps. Children will learn to love the ART of Dhol and the programme is built to cover these rhythms to give more authentic knowledge.

What’s the benefit of Dhol drumming?
Drumming is a Passion and Passions promote Positivity for better Mental Health. Drumming is a great way of expressing yourself through a creative art form – on those days you’re not feeling great, playing Dhol puts you in a positive space that quickly makes you feel happy and allows you to connect with others.

Dhol drumming is also a great way to build cooperative social skills because you have to learn how to play your Dhol with other Dholplayers in a synchronised way.
