I’m Sabrina, a graphic designer and blogger at The Mummy Stylist, living in Slough. I’m a mum to two children, ages 7 and 11, and I write mostly about activities that families can do in the local area. Since moving to Slough 8 years ago, I’ve been quite passionate about sharing the positive side to living here, and even created an Instagram hashtag #sloughitsnotsobad for locals to join in and share their positive photos of Slough.
I have always loved art from an early age, it was my favourite GCSE subject! Painting was something that came to me naturally, and as a shy person, it helped me express myself. In my adult years, I decided it was something I wanted to pursue. Whilst working I took evening classes and received a Distinction in BTEC Level 3 Graphic Design. My particular interest is Typography, which you can see in a big influence on my lamppost design.
My design is painted with acrylics, inspired by my walks around Slough where I look for the pretty. From the flowers in our parks such as Herschel Park, Baylis Park and nearby Stoke Poges Memorial Gardens, to admiring pretty flowers in residents’ front gardens when we are on the school run, through to the actual kindness of people who live here. There is beauty in Slough when you look for it.
