I am currently in my third year of university studying Art and Psychology and have been interested in art and painting since I was a child. I also studied art at both GCSE and A-Level. I applied to this project to help bring colour to the high street I grew up visiting and to help change people’s perceptions of Slough.
My lamppost design is based on the people who live in Slough. I chose to paint the different national flowers of some of the countries that make up Slough’s residents, for example, England’s Rose and India’s Lotus Flower. I wanted the bright colours to contrast with our expectations of the high street, and to fill it with fun and vibrancy.
