Gozan John

My name is Gozan, and I’m a GCSE art student. I have a deep passion for art that has been with me since a young age. My primary mediums are acrylic on canvas, watercolors, and charcoal, although I also enjoy using ink for special projects. I often find myself painting landscapes and nature, drawing inspiration from my roots and from the styles of artists like David Hockney and Georgia O’Keeffe, who are known for their use of bright colors.

Influenced by both of them, you’ll notice that most of my artworks blend elements of American modernism with contemporary art. My art invites the audience to interpret the paintings as a reflection of emotions through the diverse range of colors I incorporate.

About the art design:

Slough, in my view, symbolizes diversity and a wide range of communities. It also embodies the aspiration of becoming a place rich in nature. Inspired by these concepts, I chose to paint a lamppost adorned with flowers as a representation of nature, featuring various types of flowers in different colors to symbolize the diversity found in Slough. The uniqueness of each flower suggests that everyone in Slough is unique. Furthermore, the colors I’ve chosen for each flower symbolize different emotions: yellow symbolizes happiness, red symbolizes love and passion, blue symbolizes freedom and imagination, orange symbolizes optimism and enthusiasm, and purple symbolizes power and ambition.
